Mutt & Junkyard (2013 Kre-O)

Mutt and Junkyard were one of my absolute favorite figures in the embarrassment of cool action figure riches that was 1984. Though Firefly and Storm Shadow stood out on the Cobra side, Mutt, Blowtorch and Recondo were hits with me. Mutt got the most use, since his look and purpose suited most any mission. The animal companion was just the

Ultimate Roadblock (2013)

It took three tries, but Hasbro made a really nice movie Roadblock. The previous two versions weren’t bad figures, they were just trying to accomplish different objectives. The first one, was all about an action feature, with his funky hand attachment. I kind of liked the fun of it, despite the “burnt Pop Tart” permanently attached to his hand (thanks

Baroness (2010 Resolute)

The Baroness from the second Cobra five pack is one of my favorite action figure renditions of the character. It’s not often in mass release toy design that the female figure is rendered so well in terms of both proportion and articulation. The pack was decent enough at least for its offering of a couple more 25th anniversary style Snow Serpents, as well as a Snow Serpent officer. Scrap Iron here

Ice Viper (2009)

While I was generally underwhelmed by the Rise of Cobra film’s basic trooper, I found myself enjoying the figures that were the specialist troops. From the movie Eel to the Elite Viper and this Ice Viper, the less generic guys held more interest. Maybe I’m biased because I’ve always found something likeable about the environment specific Cobras, but the Ice
