Spring Forward With Patent Drawings!

We’re back again with more patent drawings from the wonderful Google Patent archive. And what could be more exciting to examine than the inner workings of the spring loaded mechanisms that collectors love so much? Plus it’s time to set clocks forward for springtime in (most of) the US. Hooray for lame date-related tie-in posts!

This item from Hasbro should be familiar to those who own the 1992 Fort America vehicle. The front of the tank/fort/Ninja Turtles knock-off featured a unique rapid-fire sequential missile launcher. Here we get a detailed view of how it works. Interesting? I think so.

Having owned this as a kid, I can say that the box looks cool, but the toy’s a piece of crap. Both regular and Super Sonic figures are great, but the two vehicles definitely sucked. Also, did you ever notice there’s not one Sonic Fighter pictured on the box? And while we’re on the subject, it’d be nice if we could just stop doing daylight savings finally.

  • Even studying the drawing, I’m not quite sure I understand the mechanism! I’ve seen some customized Fort Americas, and they’re still only marginally cool. The transforming feature was just a weird idea on this one.
