Free “Fridge” Action Figure!
If you need any further proof that GI Joe was a big deal back in the 80s, check out this fantastic ad for the 1986 tie-in mail-in figure, the Fridge. I wonder what would happen if I called that 900 number? Maybe the Fridge would answer, and I could ask him if Mike Singletary really was a samurai.

I got my Fridge from Hasbro Direct, but a little later. I believe he was $3.50. And in that same order, I received that heavy Sgt. Slaughter figure done in the LJN WWF style. Without question, my favorite shipment I ever received from those old Hasbro Direct booklets with all the cool Joe offers.
Also, I thought his combat specialty was “beat the shit out of you with a football on a stick”. Maybe I was wrong.
One wonders why the Joes were so stoked to be recruiting the NFL’s slowest star to their roster.

Of all the mail in figures, I actually got this one. Ugh. Tried to make it work by pairing him with the Sarge, but I just wasn’t into have the Fridge as a GIJoe. I’m all right with it now, but it still feels forced.
I remember, wondering if he would show up in the cartoon or not. It have made a good two part episode….

Better for the Adventure Team. In the old age episode they met up with a football celebrity….. Think he was Brad Turbo or something. Doing commercials for free or else
