Three Years Ago…

This blog started. Hard to believe it’s still going. For the past two years I’ve done special anniversary posts. I do have some special things on the way, and they’ll be along soon. With life busier than ever, I thought it better to take a little break at the end of this year. So no special posts today, but stay tuned. In the meantime, you can peruse the archives for older articles. Sometimes I’m surprised myself at how much stuff I’ve covered.

  • Congrats on 3 years of bringing out the best and the obscure in Joe!

  • Congratulations on 3 years Rob!

  • Congrats Rob. Without this website i would have gone mad

  • 3 years! Way to go, Rob! I’m already upset about the demise of Forgotten Figures, I’d hate to see this site go, too.

  • 3 years of Joe-A-Day! Right on! And the “Related Posts” always catches me up with a handful of articles.

  • I’ll give my congratulations as well. It’s been a great read all this time.

  • Happy Fourth Anniversary. With Mike’s Forgotten Figures offline once more, it’s your show alone.

But do take that break, Rob. It’s well deserved.

  • @ Clutch
I dug around. It’s not adequately archived by the Internet Wayback Machine at its blogspot address. Wasn’t it hosted by some other place years ago? One might access the pages by using search engine caches with “Forgotten Figures” followed by a figure name but I’m not certain how long blank websites remain in a search engine before they get purged.

  • @ Little Boa

My understanding was that Mike was adding new entries to the newer Forgotten Figures site at the blogspot address. He also kept a different archive there which was frequently updated as well.

I was posting replies to both on a regular basis until they were suddenly removed some weeks back. I only hope Mike is okay since he had been on quite a roll in recent times at FF.

  • @Clutch: MikeT sent me a note some time back that his blog had experienced a security breach and all the content was deleted. Although he has backups, he wasn’t excited about rebuilding the whole thing from scratch.

On a related note, I saw a spam-like “comment” yesterday on the ’94 Scorpion jeep entry (pods moving & storage in Winnipeg?!), but it’s gone now. Hopefully Joe-A-Day has strong security!

    • Wow, that’s a bummer about FF. Yeah, occasionally a spam comment sneaks thru, but JAD has a Tele-Viper on retainer to swiftly swat ’em when they show up.

  • @cyko9: Thanks for the info! I was wondering if the site had been breached for some reason. I hope he rebounds in time and uses a backup version but that has got be a major blow for him. Mike has done a lot of work there over the years.
