Cobra Officer Prototype

I grabbed this image way back in the 2000s from an eBay auction. If you were into collecting back then, you probably remember the plethora of auctions originating from China. Among these were pre-release offerings of figures that made it to retail, but more interesting were the toys we never saw on shelves.

This Cobra Officer image was labeled as a comic pack, and I doubt that was the intention, since we did get this same mold in bright, comic books style colors. It’s certainly not a member of the Cobra Infantry multi pack, as the head and arm molds are different. It bears a greater resemblance to the Cobra Squad Leader from the Night Watch set. Whatever its origin, the image is a nice peek back into history.
