Captivating Cover – Operation: Mindbender
Could this book manage to cram much more cool into its cover? First off, you’ve got the good Dr. Mindbender proudly flaunting a chest and ab combo that would make any crazed orthodontist envious. Next, there’s Zartan, whose appearance is always welcome, even when his chestplate is depicted more like a stainless steel banded halter top than the traditional belly shirt number. Finally, you can’t get much cooler than a passel of Siegies.
Operation: Mindbender has something to do with members of the Joe team being brainwashed. I don’t know much more than that, because we’re all about the cover on this particular feature. Maybe one of the regulars here has actually read the book and can fill us all in on the plot details. If not, just enjoy the pretty picture.
Wonder if the story is as kick ass as the illustration?
Is this the same R.L. Stine that spawned Goosebumps? If so, he’s had his hand on the pulse of America’s youth forever!
I believe it is the same Stine. Looks like he did about a half dozen Joe books, as well as some “Find Your Fate” Indiana Jones books and a Masters of the Universe book.
Who knew the guy who pretty much created the YA and teen horror market had a hand in GI Joe?

It’s interesting that the CGs also have the not black, but not quite silver facemasks, too. Never could figure out which I liked more.
