Captivating Cover: GI Joe 3D #2
We’ve already featured the first issue of the short-lived from 1987. This cover showcases the Defiant and the Joes with guns ablaze in a very evocative art style. It’s too bad the coloring in the foreground is so dominated by muzzle fire coloring.
I always passed up the chances to get these 3D issues. I was more into the regular Marvel line and Special Missions.
One thing about this image: it really brings out the battle station aspect of the Defiant Launch Complex! I was a sucker for red/blue 3D as a kid, but it’s not really enticing me to chase this comic series these days.
I vaguely remember this. But, the high cover price and non Marvel continuity made it a non starter for me. Is the story any good?
Awesome G.I. Joe comic book cover from 1987. Maybe that’s why I like it a lot. Or could it be because I got me a loose Defiant about a year ago. That thing is beautiful. I only wish that Hasbro had made some space suits for the non astronaut Joe figures, so they too could go into space with Payload. Anyway, I like how they gave Sgt. Slaughter what looks like a Thompson submachine gun. It reminds of Sgt. Savage. I wonder why? Also, I don’t know why, but this cover reminds me of G.I. Joe The Movie.
