Action Man Scuba Diver (1993)

Although I was a collector and fan of the Hall of Fame GI Joes in the 90s, I wasn’t blind to the limitations and issues with the figures. The bodies weren’t nearly as well articulated as their predecessors. Rather than ball joints and multi pivot points, the HoF figures incorporated the sort of bend and click knees and elbows that

Escape From Doom!

This promotional catalog from 1990 features the Micro figures and vehicles prominently on its cover. This is one of the most interesting diorama shots from the various GI Joe catalogs, not only because of its atmosphere, but also its scale. Those are some tiny figures, vehicles and buildings. An interesting take on the usual “small” GI Joes, to be sure.

Destro (2011 City Strike)

City Strike Destro, more popularly known as Money Bags Destro, was an absolute bear to find. It marks the only modern figure for which I’ve paid a premium price. It hurt a bit (mainly because I’m a bit thrifty when it comes toy purchases) but I’m glad I picked up the figure. He’s a great little detailed version in the

Red Dog (1987)

No, it’s not the Miller offshoot beer from the 90s, it’s the former American football placekicker cum Slaughter’s Renegade member. As a kid, I admit that I didn’t really get the Renegades. Sometimes as a collector of large, long lived toy lines, you get burned by the repetition of main characters. Often, it doesn’t hurt so bad to buy multiple versions of one person. For instance, the vintage Star Wars line, for all its representations of Luke, Han and Leia, the big three were wearing outfits significantly different than the last. Of

Joe A Day Activity Time: Connect the Dots!

Today’s visit to the world of activity and coloring books is inspired by KansasBrawler’s recent run of the latest convention exclusive Eco Warriors themed figures. It’s a connect the dots activity that reveals one of the Real American Hero line’s final playsets. And boy, it was a doozy. Not in terms of size or complexity, but sheer fun power. Get

Storm Shadow (2000)

There’s something interesting about this starkly decorated Storm Shadow. Part of the short-lived o-ring rebirth at the beginning of the millennium, he was packaged with his sword brother, Snake Eyes. While Stormy was outfitted in all-white, Snakes had emblazoned his unit’s logo on his pant leg. So much for stealth on both accounts. It’s ironic that this barely painted figure
